A Star Driving School Privacy Policy

This is the privacy notice of A Star Driving School. In this document, "we", "our", or "us" refer to A Star Driving School.

INTRODUCTION

1. This is a notice to inform you of our policy about all information that we record about you. It sets out the conditions under which we may process any information that we collect from you, or that you provide to us. It covers information that could identify you (“personal information”) and information that could not. In the context of the law and this notice, “process” means collect, store, transfer, use or otherwise act on information.

2. We regret that if there are one or more points below with which you are not happy, your only recourse is to leave our website immediately.

3. We take seriously the protection of your privacy and confidentiality. We understand that all visitors to our website are entitled to know that their personal data will not be used for any purpose unintended by them, and will not accidentally fall into the hands of a third party.

4. We undertake to preserve the confidentiality of all information you provide to us, and hope that you reciprocate.

5. Our policy complies with UK law accordingly implemented, including that required by the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

6. The law requires us to tell you about your rights and our obligations to you in regards to the processing and control of your personal data. We do this now, by requesting that you read the information provided at www.knowyourprivacyrights.org

7. Except as set out below, we do not share, or sell, or disclose to a third party, any information collected through our website.

THE BASES ON WHICH WE PROCESS INFORMATION ABOUT YOU

The law requires us to determine under which of six defined bases we process different categories of your personal information, and to notify you of the basis for each category.

If a basis on which we process your personal information is no longer relevant then we shall immediately stop processing your data.

If the basis changes then if required by law we shall notify you of the change and of any new basis under which we have determined that we can continue to process your information.

1. Information we process because we have a contractual obligation with you

When you use our website or otherwise agree to our terms and conditions, a contract is formed between you and us.

In order to carry out our obligations under that contract we must process the information you give us. Some of this information may be personal information.

We may use it in order to:

1.1 verify your identity for security purposes

1.2 provide you with our services

1.3 provide you with suggestions and advice on products, services and how to obtain the most from using our website

We process this information on the basis there is a contract between us, or that you have requested we use the information before we enter into a legal contract.

Additionally, we may aggregate this information in a general way and use it to provide class information, for example to monitor our performance with respect to a particular service we provide. If we use it for this purpose, you as an individual will not be personally identifiable.

We shall continue to process this information until the contract between us ends or is terminated by either party under the terms of the contract.

2. Information we process with your consent

Through certain actions when otherwise there is no contractual relationship between us, such as when you browse our website or ask us to provide you more information about our business, including our products and services, you provide your consent to us to process information that may be personal information.

Wherever possible, we aim to obtain your explicit consent to process this information, for example, by asking you to agree to our use of cookies.

Sometimes you might give your consent implicitly, such as when you send us a message by e-mail to which you would reasonably expect us to reply.

Except where you have consented to our use of your information for a specific purpose, we do not use your information in any way that would identify you personally. We may aggregate it in a general way and use it to provide class information, for example to monitor the performance of a particular page on our website.

We continue to process your information on this basis until you withdraw your consent or it can be reasonably assumed that your consent no longer exists.

You may withdraw your consent at any time by instructing us by contacting us. However, if you do so, you may not be able to use our website or our services further.

3. Information we process for the purposes of legitimate interests

We may process information on the basis there is a legitimate interest, either to you or to us, of doing so.

Where we process your information on this basis, we do after having given careful consideration to:

- whether the same objective could be achieved through other means

- whether processing (or not processing) might cause you harm

- whether you would expect us to process your data, and whether you would, in the round, consider it reasonable to do so

For example, we may process your data on this basis for the purposes of:

- record-keeping for the proper and necessary administration of our business.

- responding to unsolicited communication from you to which we believe you would expect a response

- protecting and asserting the legal rights of any party

- insuring against or obtaining professional advice that is required to manage business risk

- protecting your interests where we believe we have a duty to do so

4. Information we process because we have a legal obligation

We are subject to the law like everyone else. Sometimes, we must process your information in order to comply with a statutory obligation.

For example, we may be required to give information to legal authorities if they so request or if they have the proper authorisation such as a search warrant or court order.

This may include your personal information.

What Our Customers Say December 2018 - Dr Madeleine Mosse of Blackheath, London SE3

"Absolutely Brilliant Driving Instructor" - Blackheath, London SE3

This amazing review just in from Dr Madeleine Mosse of Blackheath!

Why Did You Choose A Star Driving School?
Tim came highly recommended

How Did Learning To Drive Compare To What You Expected?
It was better than I expected because Tim was great company and made it an enjoyable experience.

How Did You Find Your Instructor's Teaching Methods?
Tim is an absolutely brilliant driving instructor who pays great attention to detail and ensures that you perfect every aspect of your driving. Although he is working towards getting you through your test, he's also teaching you to be a really good driver. Tim is extremely patient and caring and is able to gage the pace at which you need to learn. I never felt pressured, and whenever I did something wrong/stupid he would make me feel better about it instantly, and help me to see how to avoid similar mistakes in the future. He was incredibly encouraging from day one and made learning to drive fun. I can't believe the level of care and attention he puts into every lesson and the way in which he always puts his pupils first. He's also such a lovely person to spend time with and I will miss our fantastic chats. I've not only learnt to drive, I've gained a friend!

Would You Recommend Us To Your Friends, If So, Why?
I cannot recommend Tim highly enough. I don't think there is a better driving instructor in London. Particularly if you are nervous about learning to drive or feel unconfident in your driving. Tim will believe in you and give you the confidence and skills you need to pass your test. The fact that I passed with zero faults is 100% down to Tim's patience and excellent teaching methods.

What Our Customers Say November 2018 - Ben Marshall of Charlton, London SE7

This review recently received from Ben Marshall of Charlton:

Why Did You Choose A Star Driving School?
I found Tim's name on a dvla website search

How Did You Get Our Contact Number?
I found Tim's name on a dvla website search

How Did Learning To Drive Compare To What You Expected?
It was much more thorough and rigorous than I expected.

How Did You Find Your Instructor's Teaching Methods?
Tim's teaching method was incredibly attentive and sensitive to how I learn. I found every moment of each lesson efficiently and effectively utilised.

Would You Recommend Us To Your Friends, If So, Why?
I would. Tim is clearly passionate about safe and confident driving. He is a teacher before a businessman and throughout my lessons I felt supported and I could tell that he was genuinely proud of me passing on my test day.

What Our Customers Say November 2018 - Sophie Cowen of Greenwich, London SE10

Another nice review received from Sophie Cowen of Greenwich Peninsula:

Why Did You Choose A Star Driving School?
It was in my local area.
Reasonable Price
Had an assessment lesson first before committing

How Did You Get Our Contact Number?
Online

How Did Learning To Drive Compare To What You Expected?
It was really stress free and convenient

How Did You Find Your Instructor's Teaching Methods?
I'd had a few instructors before outside and inside London. Tim was by far the best, extremely patient and taught me to be a confident, good driver.
It is hard to find the right instructor but Tim really ticked all of the boxes. I would definitely recommend Tim to anyone learning how to drive.
Not only did I learn how to drive but actually Tim is very friendly and the 2 hour lessons became actually enjoyable rather than a chore. As someone fairly nervous about taking my test he really made me feel comfortable on the day.

What Our Customers Say November 2018 - Krystal Durrant of Greenwich, London SE10

2nd pass of the day on Friday was one of the most emotional and satisfying I have ever had in my 18 years of doing this job! I take my hat off to Krystal Durrant of West Greenwich, who overcame the most intense anxiety at Hither Green Driving Test Centre and managed to keep it together through to the end passing with just the 2 driver (minor) faults. Hope you are as proud of yourself as I am, of you, Krystal. From your Instructor Tim Mountain and all the team at A Star Driving School

What Our Customers Say October 2018 - Mick Hunter of Blackheath, London SE3

This review just received from Mick Hunter of Blackheath:

How Did Learning To Drive Compare To What You Expected?
I've tried to learn to drive before, and found this a lot less stressful than I expected because of the slow progression and well chosen locations. I never felt I was being pushed, and I always felt like I was gaining a solid understanding of the fundamentals of what I was doing.

How Did You Find Your Instructor's Teaching Methods?
Confident and helpful. Focusing on one thing at a time helped a great deal, and 'games' like calling out whether bus lanes are active and calling out when the speed limit changes were very useful for learning to notice those things.

Would You Recommend Us To Your Friends, If So, Why?
Absolutely. I passed my test on my first go, and I'd expected to have to take two or three stabs at it. The whole driving process was demystified, and by the time the test came, I felt incredibly relaxed and confident. I never expected to feel that way during my test, and with other instructors, I doubt I would have.

What Our Customers Say August 2018 - Alice Low of Greenwich, London SE10

Just had this fantastic review in from Alice Low of East Greenwich in addition to a lovely gift of wine and choccies!

Why Did You Choose A Star Driving School?
Tim came highly recommended by family.

How Did You Get Our Contact Number?
Off google.

How Did Learning To Drive Compare To What You Expected?
I had learned to drive an automatic 10 years ago so I had a vague idea of the structure learning to drive would take. The pace was much more manageable than I expected. There is no sense of rushing through lessons or milestones. I also didn't expect to learn so much about the car itself and understanding the function of gears, gas, breaks, wheels, etc which was extremely helpful.

How Did You Find Your Instructor's Teaching Methods?
Tim's teaching methods are thoughtful and effective. He is meticulous about instructing. He shapes each lesson and structures the course based on you and your needs as a learner driver while still getting through the syllabus. He is thorough in his explanations and balances each lesson perfectly with theoretical knowledge and practical knowledge. He listens intently to your concerns and reacts accordingly. He makes you feel comfortable and confident from day one. He also ensures that you are completely confident and proficient in each lesson before moving on to the next. I felt in safe hands throughout my time as a learner driver in London - which is no small feat.

Would You Recommend Us To Your Friends, If So, Why?
Of course. I would and will recommend in a heartbeat. I had such a great experience as a learner driver. I was comfortable, confident, and know that I gained a deep understanding of driving from theory to practical.
